OUR IMPACT

Achieved through our technology and expertise, Bio Capital exemplifies the circular economy in action. As a result we are able to offer customers multifaceted routes to reaching their sustainability and recycling goals.

Our biomethane fuels our customers' CNG vehicles and our own fleet; displacing fossil fuels within the transport sector.

GENERATING 34Mwe of renewable energy across our portfolio, enough to power 50,000 homes annually.

Our biofertiliser and composts are replacing carbon intensive chemical products, supporting UK agriculture and food industries.

Our biomethane gas grid injection is heating local homes and businesses, decarbonising the natural gas grid.

RECYCLING UP TO 500,000 Tonnes of food waste annually, diverting waste from landfill and cutting harmful methane emissions by up to 300,000 CO₂e tonnes each year.

The importance of AD in the Net Zero journey

The UK government aims to reach Net Zero GHG emissions by 2050.
The UK aims to decarbonise the UK’s electricity generation fully by 2035 to help achieve this.
Each year the UK produces an estimated 9.5 million tonnes of food waste.
If food waste was directed to AD this could abate up to 1.3 million tonnes of CO2e emissions each year.
At its full potential anaerobic digestion can deliver a 6% cut in the UK’s GHG emissions by 2030.
The methane released by food waste is 80 times more warming than CO2 over its first 20 years in the atmosphere.
The waste sector accounts for 4% of all GHG emitted in the UK – 75% comes from landfill.
