French environmental services and waste management and recycling firm, Veolia, has taken full control of the international operations of its energy management joint venture subsidiary, Dalkia.

The joint venture was a 50/50 partnership with French energy utility, EDF, which has acquired Dalkia’s operations in France as part of the deal.

Outside of France, Dalkia will now operate under the Veolia banner, and take its parent company’s name and branding.

EDF has now formally closed the transaction associated with the agreement, originally signed on 25 March this year, related to the two companies’ joint subsidiary – Dalkia.

This transaction, was first announced back in October 2013, was subject to the approval of the relevant competition authorities – obtained at the end of June 2014.

According to Veolia (Paris Euronext: VIE and NYSE:VE) the move will enable it to offer its customers a wider range of environmental services in the areas of energy, water, waste and recycling.

While the name change reflects the closer integration of the group, the Veolia said that the business will continue to provide customers with its services for developing, constructing and operating greener and more economical energysolutions.

Veolia added that its Dalkia operations will now also be able to incorporate the knowledge and experience from other areas of the business into its service offering.

Estelle Brachlianoff, Veolia’s senior executive vice president for UK and Ireland commented: “Bringing our energy arm, Dalkia, fully on board truly cements us as a team. We know this will be only a benefit to our customers now and going forward, as they will be open to a larger range of services helping them be more sustainable into the future”.
