Kanadevia Inova has acquired London-based Iona Capital Limited, adding 11 operating renewable gas plants in the United Kingdom and a pipeline of projects in Europe and the United States. The transaction significantly expands the Swiss green-technology group’s role in the biogas market.
The acquisition takes Kanadevia Inova beyond plant design and construction into long-term ownership and management. Iona Capital’s specialists will join the company’s Asset Management unit, bringing experience in renewable-gas investment and operations while giving the group a larger base of recurring revenue.
With the deal, Kanadevia Inova says its renewable-gas portfolio doubles to 18 operational biogas plants. The wider geographic spread and advanced development pipeline are intended to support growth in markets where cities and industries are looking for practical routes to decarbonisation.
Biogas assets convert organic residues into usable energy, linking waste management with local renewable-gas production. Combining engineering, project delivery and asset operation under one owner can also help carry projects from development through construction and into stable long-term service.
