Kuwait’s Partnerships Technical Bureau has issued a request for expressions of interest to develop a 3000 tonne per day waste to energy facility.
The proposed Kabd Municipality solid waste project is to be tendered as a design, build, operate, finance and transfer basis.
Located in the Kabd area, which is around 25 km from Kuwait City, the planned facility would be located on a 500,000 square metre site.
The aim of the project is to divert waste from landfill, while generating environmentally friendlyenergy and minimising water use and contributing to the modernisation of the country’s integrated municipal solid and wastewater system.
Once operational, electricity generated at the facility will be purchased by the Ministry of Electricity & Water under a power purchase agreement.
Following an expected four year construction period the contract with the Partnerships Technical Bureau is anticipated to run for 25 years.
