Kanadevia Inova has completed the acquisition of Encyclis Ireland Operations and taken responsibility for the long-term operation and maintenance contract at the Dublin Waste-to-Energy Facility. Around 60 specialised employees are transferring to Kanadevia Inova, joining a global workforce of approximately 3,500 people in 17 countries.
The Poolbeg peninsula plant has operated since 2017 and was originally designed, built and commissioned by Kanadevia Inova under its former name. The transaction gives the company responsibility for a 38-year O&M contract after regulatory and stakeholder approvals were completed, returning the original technology supplier to a central operational role.
A planned upgrade will increase refuse-processing capacity by 15% to 690,000 tonnes per year. The facility already generates enough electricity for about 115,000 homes and is intended to provide district heating to as many as 50,000 households. Higher throughput should increase both landfill diversion and the plant’s contribution to Dublin’s low-carbon energy supply.
The deal combines operational continuity with engineered improvements rather than treating the plant as a static asset. For municipal waste infrastructure, that model can align maintenance guarantees, staff expertise and future capital upgrades under one operator. A structured handover is intended to preserve current performance while the capacity and energy-recovery changes are implemented.
