Facebook will build its newest data centre in Mesa, Arizona – powered by 100% renewable energy.

The social media giant announced a collaborative effort with the City of Mesa, Arizona Commerce Authority, and the Salt River Project to bring three new solar projects, totalling 450 megawatts, to the local grid in support of the facility.

“Once completed, this data centre will represent an investment of more than $800 million and will support roughly 100 jobs,” Rachel Peterson, Facebook’s vice president of infrastructure, said in a video announcement. “This data centre will be supported by 100% renewable energy.”
