If the only “sure things” in life are death, taxes and the price of oil going up, then you won’t want to miss the upcoming Alternative Fueled Vehicle Roadshow. Clean Cities North Florida, Clean Cities Gold Coast, Clean Cities Tampa Bay, and Clean Cities Central Florida, are collaborating on an 8-city educational tour that’s headed to Florida September 18th – 27th to discuss the options for displacing traditional gasoline in transporation.
The 3-hour event, presented free to attendees, showcases options for fleet managers and municipalities to save money when powering their vehicles with biofuels, propane, natural gas and electricity. A hybrid Chevy Volt, bi-fuel Ford Fusion, propane-fueled truck , CNG school bus, and the all-electric Nissan Leaf, are just a few of the vehicles that will be on display in each city. A 2-hour roundtable presentation, featuring about 10 speakers, follows the showcase, and covers each technology in depth. With participating state officials from the Florida Public Service Commission and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Office of Energy, this event will promote the economic and sustainable benefits of alternative fuel in transportation.

The Alternative Fueled Vehicle Roadshow originated in Georgia in 2011, and has been led by Georgia Public Service Commission Chairman, Tim Echols. According to Echols, “When you begin to move a bus fleet, 18-wheelers, or taxi cabs over, then you to displace a lot of traditional fuel. And I’m for any and all folks being able to take advantage of it, if it works for you.” Tour Director, Joy Kramer adds, “We all talk about being “energy voters” but business and government leaders need to know what that really means, and how it impacts their bottom-line investments”
The Tour is produced by AdVentures, a private company, producing non-profit and educational events with a social purpose. The mission of the Alternative Fueled Vehicle Roadshow is to serve the alternative energy economy, by advancing ideas about propane, natural gas, biofuels and Electric Vehicles which drive the transportation industry forward. Sponsors include TECO, EFACEC, Florida Power & Light, Florida Public Utilities, Chevrolet, NovaCharge, CODA, Clean Energy Fuels, Florida Transportation Systems, Florida Propane Gas Association, NoPetro, Colonial, Waste Management, and Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC), Phoenix Energy, Precision Alternative Fuel Conversions and A1A Solar.
