WTEI recently collaborated with CEEC (China Energy), a renowned EPC contractor boasting an annual turnover of around 50 billion USD, to develop a cutting-edge waste-to-energy project in Egypt. Although promising, the project encountered several hurdles during its planning and early implementation stages, notably high inflation and relatively low tariff rates. These financial challenges prompted the partners to seek innovative solutions to control costs without compromising performance or environmental standards.

Drawing on decades of experience constructing waste-to-energy facilities, WTEI led a comprehensive review of the project’s technical components. By identifying and revising specific aspects of the plant’s design – from equipment specifications to layout optimization – WTEI managed to reduce overall expenditures by approximately 10 million USD. Throughout this process, the company remained committed to maintaining full operational efficiency and upholding strict environmental regulations.
The partnership with CEEC proved invaluable. Known for their robust engineering and construction expertise, CEEC contributed to streamlining construction and procurement processes, ensuring the project stayed on schedule. Together, WTEI and CEEC have effectively demonstrated how collaborative problem-solving can deliver high-performance infrastructure at a lower cost, all while addressing environmental concerns. This project in Egypt stands as a testament to their combined dedication to advancing waste-to-energy solutions on a global scale.
